New Piece

Balsa wood and spray acrylic.

Truncated Tetrahedron

This was my first attempt with this piece, using about 30 elements in various configurations. (Composed of fresh cement and pieces that have fallen off the city.)

Spaceframe furniture.

This has been an interesting new project. A friend challenged me to work on something using recycled furniture. I had been reading about 60's space-frame architecture at the time, and came up with this idea. The shelves were removed and cut into 3/4 inch strips, sanded down, glued together in a triangular frame, and the legs reattached. Currently working on a second piece.

The Hostesses

In conjunction with the Expo In Ruins project I have been working on my first figurative piece. I won't go into detail now, but it has been a slow process. Here are some images of my plans and the work in progress.

Truncated Tetrahedron

Models were first created in paper, then balsa wood, shellacked, and silicone molds were made. I have been casting them in concrete in my kitchen!

Making models.

Two new projects in the planning stages, one using truncated tetrahedrons to be cast in concrete, and the other using recycled furniture to create space-frame structures.

Expo in Ruins

The Expo In Ruins animation has been postponed for a little while as I don't have the computing power to render it the way I would like at this time. Visits to the site have been interesting though.

Update

Applications for Masters studies were in at the end of January, and with that stress off for a while I have been very busy getting my hands dirty and should be posting a lot of updates in the next while.
